Day 1 Sunday, 11/3 Today we fly to Ontario, CA. Upon arrival you will be whisked off to the Sunnylands Center & Gardens in the California desert. Many world leaders met here, shared ideas and found common ground on the tough issues facing our world. We check into the Hilton Palm Springs Hotel for a two night stay and have time to freshen up before dinner.   D

Day 2 Monday, 11/4 This morning we visit the welcome center of the Thousand Oaks Palms State Preserve to see the desert life of plants, wildlife, and birds.  A short hike will take you through a palm oasis, across the fault zone, through a desert wash to the McCallum Oasis, one of the largest groves of desert fan palms in California. Next we take a Windmill Tour to show us how wind power generation provides power to the desert of Coachella Valley. See various exhibits  and hear the latest technology in wind power generation, solar generation, and natural gas power plants that keep the
desert power going. B

Day 3 Tuesday, 11/5 This morning we will explore on our own the Cabot Pueblo Museum, a historical house museum consisting of a large, Hopi-style pueblo filled with American Indian and Alaskan Natives’ artifacts as well as contemporary artwork. The house is an example of the Pueblo Revival Style built by Cabot Yerxa, an explorer and activist who constructed the home out of things he found in the desert. We continue on to Joshua Tree National Park where the giant branching yuccas thrive on the sandy plains studded by massive granite monoliths and rock piles. This is the most intriguing and photogenic geological phenomena found in the California desert. We then arrive in the Amargosa Valley, Nevada just west of Death Valley National Park and overnight at the Longstreet Inn & Casino. B

Day 4 Wednesday, 11/6 This morning we head to Death Valley National Park, famous for
being both the hottest place on earth, and the driest and lowest place in North America. Our step-on guide will then introduce you to intriguing places such as Beatty, Devil’s Corn Field,  Mesquite Sand Dunes, Stove Pipe Wells, Harmony Borax Works, Badwater, Zabriskie Point and more. We then make our way to Las Vegas, Nevada where we spend the night in the “Entertainment Capital of the World.” B

Day 5 Thursday, 11/7 Enjoy your breakfast on this final day of the tour.  We’ll then board our flight home with memories of the majestic sights and nature of our adventure through the deserts. Meal: B
